Renovating cooker hob

Our old cooker - over the years, the hob (white enamel) has got scratched and dirty to the point where proprietary cleaners won't do any good.

Is there any future in repainting it (without stripping it down) or should I either live with the scruffy looking top or replace the whole thing? Otherwise, it still works pretty well.

Thanks.

If you're handy with a spray can Allen, then high temp. appliance paint is readily available in aerosol form.
Maybe find a friend who likes a bit of home car bodywork.

Hello Builder.

Googled that, and found some other mugs who'd gone down the same route, none with any success! It's a shame, not just for the money a new one will cost, but for the fact that there are (amazingly) few top quality free-standing gas cookers on the market*. Most manufacturers seem to concentrate on built-in, to the exclusion of the free-standing sector.

(*There are some, but many get a big thumbs-down from Which? magazine for various major faults - a couple, for example, have a single big oven with the grill located INSIDE it. Who designs these things?)

Ah well, it was worth asking.

Ta.

Perhaps it might be worthwhile dropping by your local recycling centre every couple of days. You never know!
