"Queen Victoria visited the area of Aldershot on many occasions during her reign often inspecting her troops on the dusty Long Valley (known now as Rushmoor Arena). She would often stay at the Royal Pavilion which was especially built for her by the army. Although the Pavilion is no longer standing the wooden guardhouse still remains and is the earliest military building in Aldershot built in 1858."
