Why do we put postage stamps in the top right hand corner ?

HI, does anyone know why we always put postage stamps on the top right hand corner of the envelope? Thanks

Probably it was to make it easier for a right-handed person in the post office to hold the envelope down on the counter with their left hand, read the address, then hand-frank the stamp. Imagine if the stamp was on the left. Makes ergonomic sense.
