Sort of history - black buskers in London years ago.

For some reason (don't know what) a thought popped into my head the other day concerning the old street entertainers in Leicester Square, busking to the cinema queues. Some were quite well known (I believe Wilson Kepple and Betty and the sand dance were quite famous) but I believe there were also a couple of black dancers who were quite well known.

BTW, I'm old enough to remember back to the sixties, but not beyond that, and I have only ever seen these things on newsreels. Am I imagining them?

Can't believe you've asked this question Postdog, as it's taken me back to the 'old' days somewhat!

My dear old Dad was a brilliant piano accordionist & used to play to audiences all around London. His nickname was 'Crackerjack' & he played alongside the 'Sand Dancers' & many others. (He did have a day job too of course)!

We have some brilliant photo's of him on stage too. I must dig them out, scan them & post them on here.

Thanks for jolting happy memories!
