Right I am notified I'm gonna get a knighthood .Would turn it down but if I did .I appears at palace kneels down gets the old blade bit on the shoulder bit .Arise Sir Weecalf okay but can I use the sir bit when I'm at the post office where I'm Bert Small .So has two knighthood been conferred at the same time and I want to be Helen Alright do I then get conferred with the old Lady bit What do you think ?

you can use it where you like. A lot of online forms insist on knowing whether you're Mr or Mrs or Ms and they often have a slot for Sir or Herr Doktor. They're supposed to be very effective when you're reserving a table at the Ivy.

I think you're automatically Lady if you're married to a Sir. If you get one of your own, it's Dame.

If I remember correctly, Sir Michael Caine was actually dubbed 'Sir Maurice Micklewhite' but he has been allowed to transfer the title across to his acting name.

I was just saying if a given name is knighted then can it be transferred to another name who is the same person but a different from the one who was knighted .
