I'm having a general clear-up of my desktop, trying to solve the problem I posted yesterday in Computers. Have defragged, allowed Windows to fiddle around with the disk at start-up, cleared browsing history; is it OK to 'clear cookies and other sites plug-in data', or am i likely to lose something important?

If you normally come to AB and find that you're already logged in, you'll find that you need to log in again after you've cleared your cookies.

That applies to any other site that 'recognises' you straight away.

Otherwise clearing your cookies shouldn't cause you any problems. My security software is configured to clear them daily and my computer hasn't blown up yet!

I wipe out all my cookies regularly, no problems, just a minor inconvenience for a short time with reconstructing logins etc.

Out of interest, you should be able to list them - you've never seen such a cosmopolitan load of rubbish.
