Bearskins

What is the purpose of this headgear. Sorry but I thought Prince Phil looked rather silly at the Trooping the Colour.

Way to miss the point Michael

Gran seems to think the forces make law abiding citizens out of their servicemen.

Clearly not true is it.

I suppose seeing as having a criminal record is still not necesarilly a bar to serving in the Army we shouldn't be that surprised.

Oh nearly missed this one too

This is all missing the point. Its got nothing to do with respect of the royal family. What is it for? and yes,it does look silly.

Yes tabathazig, very nteresting to read your impression, but what is your reasoned refutation of what he said?
Coming back to Johnny's point: why does supporting this country and it's heritage have to be identified with wearing daft hats and funding the lavish lifestyle of a dynasty of talentless freeloaders?
It is not a polarised debate but I hope it can be an adult one. There are plenty of ways to retain a constitutional monarchy and a democracy without including a fairyland for one family and their hangers-on. And their daft hats.
why is the queen a freeloader? She seems to work quite hard at her job. And she actually seems to do it well, unlike all those bankers we have been rescuing.
Many women would work much harder, given chauffering, security and a problem-free existence. Imagine never having to carry money, or wonder if you've got clean / new clothes. Imagine a world where everyone smiles and waves at you and everywhere you visit smells of new paint.
Ghillie - "Excuse me sir, but is that Davy Crockett style headgear you're wearing made from fox fur"?
Prince Charles - "Yes".
Ghillie - "Might I ask why you're wearing it"?
Prince Charles - "I told my mother I was going shooting in Ecclefechan and she said 'Wear the fox hat'.
Wharton - I now need to get changed due to pmsl.
