how to find out.

i have found out my father was married before he married my mother,he was married in 1933 till possibly 1952,or before as he met my mother and married her in late 1952,my problem is,how can i find out if he had any children with his first wife,any answers will be greatly appreciated.

for this you'll need either Dot or Craft or both.

You need to look at the civil registration index to births from 1933 - 1952 for any children registered with his surname and with his first wife's maiden name included on the index in the registration district that they lived.
the index is available to search on various websites including ancestry.co.uk or for free in your local liobrary.

You can narrow the search and reduce your time spent searching by putting in the search criteria on the ancestry.co.uk website and the results should give you a good chronological start.

hi craft,many thanks for your offer,my dads name is sydney edward manning,his wife was margery edith burford,they married in paddington on 1/7/33.and as far as i know they lived in the hendon/kilburn area of london.he married my mum on 1/12/52.hope thats enough info.

Well Norman I've had a good trawl through but can't find any children. Is Margery the one who also remarried in 1952 to a Francis Young and died in 1999?
