Family in USA

Can anyone advise me if online records for the early 1900's would be available online for New York and surrounding area. If so can you advise where I can go to obtain materials.

is probably the best place to start. They have several subscription packages available.

They have oodles of American information.

If they emigrated to the US you can look on the Ellis Island site and that gives the ship they were on and the address they were going to in the US.

The LDS site may be useful, familysearch.org, it's the Mormon site in Salt Lake City. At the moment, I believe that Ancestry has a free 3 month trial on offer, certainly comes up on my homepage.
