After getting helpfull replies from my previous question, we now have a death certificate with all the info we needed for Eden Thomas Crawford-----

He did die from drowning in Thames on 24 june 1900.
He was a lighterman, but we believe he could have died along side a brother or two, as we have been led to believe over the yrs.(Romford essex district)
Is there any one who can help with this information please?
Brothers --
Charles John Crawford (age 64) and Samuel Crawford (age 59?)

That sounds brilliant Polly, many thanks x
The index to the apprenticeships for the Thames watermen and lightermen are in the guildhall London, i used it to identify ancestors on my husband's side, sons would be apprenticed to fathers and grandfathers etc, oh and if they lived at 67 park st limehouse they lived a few doors away from our lot!
Question Author
ha ha thats unbelievable dotty!
I'm just looking on my tree in ancestry, I think they lived at 64.
Question Author
wow, we might even be related dotty.

Is Samuel Crawford showing up any where?

He may be the one who died alongside Eden Thomas Crawford?

The others seem to have lived way after 1900 when Thomas died.

Many thanks for replies x pusskins
In 1851 charles aged 15, samuel aged 10 and eden aged 10 months are living with their mother Elizabeth and other siblings but their father, a mariner is not at home.
Eden's death is recorded in the JAS quarter,1900 registered in Romford, there is a Samuel Crawford in the same index but he died in Blackburn aged 56.The only other Crawfords whose deaths were registered in Romford were James Joseph and Henry David but they were in 1897.
Question Author
many thanks for helping us. Will come back to you when he gets down from the loft and looks at the records to see who is who on the records he keeps.
Your replies are very much appreciated x

Thanks so much polly for taking the time to look things up, but it doesnt quite fit.
Dotty, he has checked your info and agrees that it all fits in with records.

We still wonder who it was who drowned along side Eden Thomas on 24th June 1900. Family rumours say it was either a brother or a son.
Maybe that is not correct.

Cant thank you enough for all your help dotty x
btw puss, the 1851 entry is mis-transcribed by ancestry, eden is edwin, James is Janes and Samuel is Jane (that's because the original enumerator has used Sam.L as an abbreviation in his book.

Thank you for all your help Dotty. Mr puss is very happy with what you posted.

There are things that he would never have known without your info.

Bless ya x pusskins (Wished I was as clever as you on the p.c.)
Eden's sons were Thomas 1873, Samuel 1882 and John 1884, he married Emily Ward in 1870 at St James the great Bethnal Green. Earlier on I had found a Thomas Eden Crawford in Yorshire in the early 1800s but dismissed it, but Eden's father Samuel was born in Yorkshire in 1804.

Eden's son thomas is on the 1901 and so he didn't drown with his father in 1900
William, the younger son of Eden Thomas was born 1888 and so possibly too young to be apprenticed to a lighterman as 14 was the age for a new apprentice
Eden's brother Charles had a son Samuel born 1863 but he was alive for the 1901 too.
