Trying to help a friend trace a great uncle Harry Denny who she believes srved in the Merchant Navy and was killed during the 1st world war

Granddad G has tried using 1st World War casualties but no luck - We don't have a lot to go on but would be grateful for any pointers

I've tried the Commonwealth War Graves Commission website for members of the Merchant Navy killed in WW1 but with no results.

Does she have any date of birth and where he was born?

No sorry - I don't think that she has any more details
I assume the great uncle is her grandad or grandma's brother...if she has their birth details I can find him from there.
