Try as I might

I simply can't get into RPG games. I've tried; I got Morrowind and Pirates of the Caribbean bundled with my X-box. As far as I know they are both fairly rated games from the same development team.

My problem is the fight routine. If only the game reverted to an 'Actua Fighter' style engine than the simplistic and uneffective 'one-slash sword movement' that I've witnessed so far (whilst your enemy kicks butt)

I can appreciate the depth and scope of these games but simply cant get into them. Is there an RPG that gives the player a fair chance?

Assuming you mean the 360, try Mass Effect. RPG style game where you level characters up, but the fighting is with guns in the normal way. You can instruct your team what to do, but they will do their own thing if you leave them to it.

Mass effect is a hell of a game, 100% agreement that it is the most "user friendly" rpg.

Now i was like you, hated these games and thought them worthless, OBLIVION changed all that, slow at first but man it is so deep, ive spent over a hundred hours on it and thats small potatoes compared to some.

Give it a go, cant recommend it highly enough.
