pc chess

are there any totally free chess games for pc`s (not the one`s that only let you play free for an hour) if there are could you please point me in the right direction.i run xp sp2 if that makes any difference.my sons laptop has vista which has a good chess game already on it but dont know if you can get it for xp. thanks in advance
