Simple buffet party food

Cook a lovely juicey steak, mushrooms, onions etc at home and buy chipshop chips???? Home fries are too greasy and oven chips are not great but chipshop chips are great. Is this wrong?

All the recipes say to stone the cherries first - but I want to use small wild cherries which are too difficult to stone. Can I just boil up the cherries and skim the stones off later?
