Healthy Energy/Cereal Bars

My nephew could be doing with something a bit more that just fruit for his morning snack at school - can anyone offer a recipe for a healthy energy snack/cereal bar type thing? Some of the shop bought ones seem to be a wee bit too high in calories/sugars etc. Many thanks

Muffins can be healthyish, here's a few recipes. http://www.eatingwell...ealthy_muffin_recipes
I make my own.

Cornflakes, honey, dried fruit, all mixed and squished into bar shapes. Mini Boo takes them into school as part of her lunch.

thanks - yes was wanting to make my own. Muffins look good thanks - boo, is the honey enough to bind them? any heating required? I had wondered if melting a low fat spread would do - only a little mind!!
They do tend to be a bit gooey, but wrapped in clingfilm, they do hold their shape...just!

Narr, no heating, i make a batch and fridge them.

Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall does a very nice breakfast bar with seeds and crunchy peanut butter and dried fruit and other stuff - really tasty. It was on one of his show then I found it on tinternet.
Hi joannie,
here's a recipe using 'truvia sweetener' ... you could omit the low sugar preserve ... http://truvia.co.uk/r...spberry-oatmeal-bars/
