A scottish friend of mine used to do a version of stovied tatties with sausages instead of meat and with a little more stock than os normal for stovies.
There are many recipes for stovied tatties if you google it. X |

I just make it up as I go along!
I typically start with some beef stock and a generous amount of tomato purée, together with some red wine (if I'm feeling rich!) and/or some English mustard. If not using mustard, some paprika and/or cayenne spices it up a bit. Then add some decent (Cumberland?) sausages (pre-browned in a frying pan or under the grill if you want - but it's not actually necessary) and your choice of veg. Alternatively, use a can of baked beans as the basis of the casserole sauce, together with beef stock, tomato purée, red kidney beans and some cayenne, paprika or chilli. However, if you insist on a 'proper' recipe, try one of these: http://www.bbc.co.uk/food/sausage_casserole Chris |
