I have some Tesco finest minced beef and red wine amongst other ingredients. I would like to cook something different than spaghetti bolognaise.

Have you got any ideas for minced beef and wine cooked together?

How about:

Ingredients:

* 2 tablespoons butter
* 1 pound ground beef
* 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
* 2 cloves garlic, minced
* 8 ounces sliced mushrooms
* 1/4 cup dry red wine
* 1 tablespoon lemon juice
* 2 beef bouillon cubes or equivalent base or granules
* 1 cup water
* 2 cups uncooked wide noodles
* salt and pepper
* sour cream
* paprika

Preparation:
Melt butter in frying pan; add ground beef, onion, garlic, and mushrooms. Cook, breaking up meat, until browned. Add wine, lemon juice, bouillon cubes, and water. Simmer uncovered for 10 minutes. Add noodles, cover, and simmer for 15 minutes, or until noodles are tender. Check occasionally and add more water if necessary. Season with salt and pepper; stir in sour cream and heat through. Sprinkle with paprika.

Excellent Androcles! But what is one cup equal to?
Lasagne

1 cup = 8 fl. oz
why don't you make meatballs with onion gravy and add some red wine to the gravy and drink the rest :-)

or and this one doesn't use the red wine except in a drinking capacity but dry fry the mince with onions then add a some stock and leave to simmer/reduce untill the mixture is wet but not sloppy - add sweetcorn, kidney beans whatever you fancy really. then get some pittas and warm then spoon the mix into the pittas and top with cheese
look at the first paragraph, third bullet point

I tend to use a tea cup (not mug) and use that throughout for an approximate measurement
that's what i do too jack daniels, particularly in a recipe like the one above where the measurements aren't crucial, although it's what i would do for any recipe which called for cup measurements to be honest.
