Dear Doog
I purchased the Durabrand breadmaker about 2 months ago and I am really pleased with it, make sure you use the sandwich loaf function as you get a much lighter loaf. I have tried several other makes and always ended up sending them back..

Use the 500g packs of bread mixes (they already have all the ingredients and you don't have to muck about measuring the yeast, salt and sugar etc) they are much easier you just put the water in the breadmaker first than add the the 500g bag of mix select the sandwich function shut the lid and that is it..

Tesco make their own bread mixes, you can also use Wrights as well, not sure about the other supermarkets own brands.

if you want to make brown bread I find it much better to mix 2/3rds white and 1/3rd brown bread mix.

good luck - Sue
