I love that they felt the need to subtitle this - presumably due to his impenetrable accent ... ??
He has it wrong though. Sushi is the rice, not the fish. Sushi can be served with veg and still be Sushi.

I love it.
he's scottish, if it's not deep fried in batter he's not going to like it

Very true ummmm - as Chambers says :

sushi /sooˈshi/

A Japanese dish of small cakes of cold vinegared rice topped with fish, vegetables, egg, etc

I'm still not that taken with it though.

I can't click on your link but I absolutely adore Sushi. My favourite is salmon nigiri but that's not permitted atm.
The only fish I'd eat raw is salmon and tuna.

I can never remember the names of the individual dishes. I have to be shown pictures :-)
I can no longer eat the rice so instead I order sashimi yummmm in fact I am being taken out by my bestie next week for lunch to a sashimi restaurant
I'll take a freshly opened clam over a battered fillet every time.
Not everything is deep fried in Scotland.

Is that some sort of euphemism, snagsy?
Why does that sound vaguely obscene, snags......? :o)
Exactly annea it's a shame that's most people thoughts on a Scottish menu

Question Author
Quite so anne - I know many Scots who get their 5-a-week fruit & veg without fail ...
Ael. My apology for missing the joke :-)
Quite partial to a Winkle too...
While he dismisses those who like sushi and sashimi who are unlikely to force it upon others it is harder to dismiss a man seemingly wearing a collar, tie and suit but no socks.
I suspect most of them are fermented, Dave.
I love David Tennant. Great actor. Although I've never tasted Sushi, I just can't stand the thought of eating it. I always thought it raw fish too, so I've learned something today.
Patsy - if you get sushi from the supermarket it tends to come with cooked prawns, smoked salmon and a veggie version.
