Unbelievable

Personally, I don't see why I should eat my meal from something that has come off a building site or out of a builder's supplier.

Or this.... https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/tomfooleries-restaurant-and-bar-kansas-city?select=3_QUeFn8VkQBf6jOLejTmQ&menu-item=the-dirty-dump-truck

Any examples/experiences yourself?

I'd walk out, Kathyan
I wouldn't go in the first place. Pretentious restaurants like that usually put pics on their website.

I must admit I do like poncy food styled food though.

bloody hell, a mixed grill on a coal shovel.....the only way I would go that is such a meal cooked in a steam train or steam engine furnace!
Some of them are ok, and I actually do eat some of my dinners from a cup and saucer.
The spaghetti piled up in the middle of the table is gross, not to mention totally unhygienic.
EEK..noooo..have had slate..board... but prefer a plate
Pretentious nonsense.
I think 'pretentious' is quite flattering in some cases.
Sir - I don't want my meal on a breadboard or a slate

If you don't mind, Sir - I'd much rather have a plate.

Garaman, haha! Probably. When my food arrives on a slate or a piece of wood, I ask very nicely for it to be taken away and put on a plate.
I've been waiting for someone to put toilet bowel on! Yuk! That would make me wretch.
I'm not sure if it's pretentious actually more of a fashion. Food like clothing has fashions, and this is the current fashions.

bazile, that will have many on here saying, 'bog off' - best answer for tbe sewerage that you have shown and written!
NoM, do you make Arancini? We had them in Sicily and I thought they were gross but apparently they're supposed to be very nice, maybe we were unlucky!
Make sure you wash your hands before you eat here

unlucky I suspect, Eddie, they go well with a Tasca Regaleali Bianco di Sicilia - the 2015 is out there, around seven to eight quid a bottle.

there is, of course, (no pun intended) the Japanese art of Nayotaimori - and the pic is moderately decent...
