Low Carb... Anyone?!

Has anyone here tried eating low carb, and how did you find it? I've been doing it for a month in an attempt to lower my blood sugar reading, and avoid diabetes. I've given up all sweet food, sugary drinks and carbs. Eating just meat/fish and veg is very dull and I don't particularly even like meat. I'm determined to do it for 3 months until my next blood test, and see if I've made a difference. I'd love to hear others' experiences.

I was on a diet which meant eating meat and veg only for just two days a week, and I found that difficult. Tuna and spinach for breakfast is not much fun.
I don't think you need to be so strict with yourself. Avoid sugary drinks, cakes, sweets etc but allow yourself something decent to eat.
I've been low carb for about 6 years. The very first time I tried it was about 15-18 years ago, and I gound it restrictive. My more recent attempt was far more successful and it's just how I live now. I've found I'm rather sensitive to wheat, I get quite bloated...if I have one slice of bread it awakens terrible cravings so I'm better off staying away from it.
I eat meat ( mostly chicken and pork), fish, cheese, eggs, full fat dairy including cream and yogurt, some veg( I've never been a big fan)...tomatoes, spinach, rocket, aubergine, cauli or broccoli. I also eat avocados at least 3-4 times per week. I also eat low sugar berries...usually raspberries. If I want something sweet I have 85-90% chocolate.
When I first did this it was to lose weight... I lost 1.5st in 3 months...and most has stayed off.
I've never found it to be dull...in fact it reawakened my interest in cooking.
Five or six weeks ago I was told I was pre-diabetic and needed to reduce sugar intake so I stopped taking it in my considerable intake of tea. This I have found difficult and because I don't enjoy it my tea consumption has dropped dramatically, along with the other accompanying goodies. My intake of bread and spuds is unchanged, but I have lost weight....given another six weeks we'll see what the outcome is.
