Why do people feel the need to be hauling a bottle of water or a huge coffee around everywhere? - it seems that to be "right on" you have to do the "coffee walk" into work each day looking like a cross between a blind beggar and Mrs Overall....MP's are right into this too.

This is a question of a fashion which started in the USA where self conscious/insecure people abound (self-help suggestions making lots of money) - it matters to ostentatiously carry something that is assumed to be a proprietary item and to have cost money - the aim is to be part of what used to be "the in crowd", later simply being "cool". Quite apart from the...

You will never, ever find me without a bottle of water.

How does this affect you?
This again!!
I personally get a coffee on the way to work every morning as it is part of my diet. The same with the water, I always have a bottle of water with me to keep me hydrated.
I don't understand what the fascination is with other people drinking habits.
I don't go out much but do sometimes do a tour of the flat carrying my cuppa.
You never see Didier Deschamps without his bottle of water.
The thing is, people never used to have the need to carry coffee/water, is it an emotional prop or are you constantly thirsty?
I absolutely refuse to pay £2 + for a cup of coffee which I can make at home for 6p. Nor will I buy bottled water when I can fill an empty bottle with tap water at home.
Well for me medically I need to keep hydrated and I dehydrate in a fraction of the time a normal person does.
People never used to do a lot of things that they do now - does that mean they shouldn't?
People always carry the bottle so others can see the label. I think it's a fashion statement.
If you don’t like it, don’t do it. providing they aren’t pouring the drink over you I am not sure why it bothers you. The environmental aspect does worry me and I wish though that people would take up re usable cups and bottles as they have re usable shopping bags.
Yeah melv cos Asda's water is so fashionable!!!
I always have a small bottle of water in my bag !
Weird what people get het up about.
Maybe Asda is a designer label where you live, Islay:-)
Where I live it's the equivalent of Harrods.
I don't so much mind the walking drinkers but I do find the "mombies" a bit scary, as the just step off the curb without looking.
Not coffee, whisky.
My designer water is Aldi...and if I'm carrying a bottle, it's because I'm thirsty. How else should I quench my thirst when out and about? There are far more important things to concern oneself with...
I reuse my water bottle, and usually have it in my bag or car. I do get quite thirsty so I like to have it with me. It's nothing to do with the branding.
I don't drink coffee now, but when I did I'd want to sit down and enjoy it, not carry it through the streets with me.
There are a lot of Aquarians about. In fact, 12th of the people on earth are water carriers.

Is there a horoscope sign for coffee carriers?
Lol Tills. Me Too. :))
