I've just been perusing a menu at an admittedly v good restaurant.

A bowl of gazpacho with grissini and herb oil is £37!!!

I like gazpacho but I'm not sure I like it that much?.......

I won't tell you the price of one of the main courses, it's probably equal to or more than some families weekly food bill.

That is seriously expensive!
thirty seven quid and they don't even bother to warm it up!

You're not only paying for the food but if you were to compare some canned cheap gazpatcho with the restaurant version you'd probably think that one of them tasted of heaven and the other of stagnant sewage water, but taste aside you're paying for the experience and the ambience.
I think Eccles understands what she'll be paying for. It's still just cold soup though.
There is no way I would pay that. Food doesn't have to be expensive to be good.

I am fully aware of the overheads of Michelin restaurants Rammenstein, I simply have a conscious.

I might know a fair bit about food and restaurants but I don't know how to knock a spellchecker into submission though :-)
£37 would feed me for a fortnight or more.
Nor do I - you should see some of my crossword posts :-)
Jack, really? Do you live off bread and water?
Question Author
How do you manage to be so frugal Jackdaw?
I have a very poor appetite. I only have one meal a day, usually a big bowl of porridge and toast.
Blementhal perhaps.....

there are plenty of dishes like that out there in two/three star Michelin restaurants - and then never mind the wine mark-ups.
