Myself and my husband are due to go to London a week on Friday to see a concert Friday night, then fly back up on Saturday. I am really worried about going with everything that's been happening...
Everything is paid for, so we can't "not go", but in the same vein I cannot stop worrying about it in case anything happens to us when we are down there.
Irrational? Perhaps?
Just saying...

Thanks Murray, I can't help but think though that security measures aren't enough in this day and age - a man in a van for instance! Could be anyone!? I will be taking a handbag, but will be more than willing to have it "strip searched" when I get there :-).....
where is your concert ?
I'm exactly the same this Saturday- going to the 02. Where are you going?

Queen Elizabeth Olympic Stadium, Stratford.
Don't be worried Frilly....see what these tourist are saying ::::

Get matters into proportion....London a very big city, with a huge population.
venue security will be tight...all stations around such places too..some trains are being patrolled by police...added bonus everyone will be alert to any dangers....walk on inside tight to walls if you fear cars etc mounting pavements...don't let your worries detract from your enjoyment...you too smow xx

Will try Murray, and thanks you - waited my whole life to see this band too!!! Aye, literally 20 odd years!!!
I'm in London often and I'm there again for work this coming week. You could get run over my a bus in your village, life is dangerous, but London is huge and your chance of finding yourself in the middle of a terrorist attack is almost none existent even if there were to be one, which I doubt there will, so just go and enjoy yourself, life is too short to let these feckwits interfere with it, security will be massive.
who you going to see ?

Guns and Roses
Whose the singer, who replaced axle rose.?

Years back Mrs B lived and worked in Central London (before I knew her) during the 'so called Troubles' says she heard a few Bombs go off during that time, but there was no point in worrying as you didn't know if you were walking away from or towards the next one, so you just got on with things.

It's the first time they will all be on stage together again! Including Axl!!!
Lets face it you could have taken a holiday to Thailand a dozen or so years ago and felt you were very safe relaxing on the beach.

Then a huge wave would have come and killed you and hundreds of thousands of other people.

In one sense you are not safe anywhere (even in your own home) but in another sense you are safe everywhere and the chances of anything happening where you are is very small.

I know Guilbert, and thank you. I know there are things can happen to you all over, and without warning it can all be over, I can't however stop thinking that an American band in London is a catalyst for them thinking they can do something. I guess a bit like the cup final this coming weekend and such. I just don't want to be caught up in something that could have been avoided if that makes sense ie if we weren't to go at all....which is such a shame to think like that eh?!
Go and have a great time, Frilly. As others have said, the chances of being caught up in a terrorist incident are very small. There are concerts, theatre performances sports events etc. in London and our other cities every day, but something terrible happens relatively scarcely.
It's shocking when it does, but go and enjoy your show.

get on the T shirt and enjoy !
