Most of you know I live in London, my husband works in London Bridge. I often meet him after work and we go to those very pubs and restaurants that were targeted last night. We love Borough. market and are often there too. It could easily have been us last night.
I've kept a stiff upper 'British 'lip through the past few years of attacks, even Westminster bridge, then Manchester last week, but lastnightactually broke me. It's too close to home now. I don't feel safe. I'm sick of hearing politicians spouting ' we won't be broken' and 'united we stand'. Sick of FB and Twitter posts trying to unite everyone. We need someone to do something NOW. Not just words. Action. I don't know what the answer is but enough is enough, and I for one can't carry on like this - being afraid.

Theresa May said "Enough is enough" And? It's easy to talk the talk but what is going to be done? For a start, I think they should bring in the death penalty for terrorists (those that haven't managed to kill themselves already) I was just thinking that there is a place near here where I went for a drink the other night and on nice afternoons and evenings, people crowd together there. It would be a prime spot for terrorists to come along and cause mayhem. I`ll still go there though. People just have to be vigilant and report any suspicious behaviour - there's not much else they can do.
Where do you live, smow?

Don't want to be exact Naomi incase by chance someone I know is on here and I do talk about family a lot, but I seriously can't bear it now. I'm meant to be going to the 02 arena next Saturday evening and I know their security is excellent but I seriously m thinking of not going. Yes I know that's what they want, but I can't help how I feel. What is the answer?? How can you possibly stop 3 lunatics rushing about stabbing people??
It's human nature to feel more fearful the closer to you something dreadful gets.
You can't stop them.

We live in the country, but my husband is in the City and it is worrying.

I've seen a statement from the Muslim Council this morning condemning these acts of terrorism. I think out of everyone they should be helping us the most, looking at their own communities- who is acting differently, who has been abroad suddenly, anything that stands out at all.
I don't set much store by what the Muslim Council of Britain says.
Years ago I used to play darts in the wheatsheaf pub at the borough market and used to have a beer in the morning after doing night work ...it beggars belief what went on last night ..I can't see how your going to stop these people I honestly can't ...I live half a mile from bluewater I'm afraid they will target that sooner or later too!
But they won't stop me from doing my usual things you MUST carry on ..you have too!!
my two nieces just left the area last but were heading to station when people came running and shouting run for your lives so frightening ,my granddaughter is also going to the o2 arena and her mum is petrified for her .
I know how you feel Smow. I live just north of Croydon and last night when I was watching the news my heart was pounding. I haven't felt this fearful since the riots a few years back.
If Islam is a peaceful religion the MCB need to act more on the prevention of radicalisation within their communities and that includes whistleblowing on dodgy clerics.
Having drank in the pubs and eaten in the restaurants in question, I too feel shaken.

I understand your concerns but I do think we must maintain the great British stiff upper lip and 'Keep calm and carry on'.
If it affects you that much, move. My wife's cousin was there an hour earlier. C'est la vie I'm afraid.
There were reports last night of something happening at Lambeth too, but I've not heard any more. Anyone know anything about that?
There was a report of a stabbing in Vauxhall last night but apparently terrorism was ruled out.
The police have made 12 arrests. The speed with which they responded after Manchester and last night has to be praised. Each attack seems to open the door slightly to their network. Let's hope every attack is an 'in' to their network.

Tiggerblue you must be quite near me then. I hadn't seen that link before Baldric.
Yes we must:

As we did during WW2, after all if we hadn't then we would have spent 24/7 down an air raid shelter, not going anywhere.
tiggerblue, thanks for that.
