I swear if I see another burger or hotdog I will scream. Today my cousin is doing pulled pork in burger buns and the traditional Mac n cheese! I shall just have the pork with salad and forgo that huge cherry pie!
I must have gained a stone and no one is interested in smoothies. :-(

One reason for me to not go back permanently...;-0
Oh dear, I feel for you Sharon. Once is ok, but not all the time.
I had a fabulous holiday touring all around New England, the thing that struck me most was that every plate of food had fresh vegetables.

Some parts of the US seem to think onion rings are one of your five a day :-(
I don't think I have ever eaten a burger or a hotdog whilst out in the States.
...and the union, EU contains/is full of, SA - so E SA u.
Sorry, I posted on the wrong thread!
In my lifetime, we have changed from seeing a burger as a treat that you have once in a while, to a situation where theya re the only food available 24/7.

Don't get me wrong....I enjoy fast food occasionally, especially those sausage bagels that MacD's make !

I have travelled extensively all over America in the last 40 odd years, and breakfast is always good. But I wouldn't want to eat it 3 times a day !
I know I don't understand the fascination with Mac and cheese. We certainly never had it a lot when I was growing up. The idea of it with pulled pork is a bit revolting.

Thanks Pasta!!! I have tried, they like my pork chops, my stir fries with meat or prawns, they're not to keen on shepherds pie. I don't mind their meatloaf. They rarely seem to have roasts. And there are numerous giant tubs of every flavour imaginable in the giant double freezer!!!!
What part of the country are your rellies in Sharon? It might help explain the Mac n cheese.

I am in Miami, Fort Lauderdale.
Why do they call pork, chicken ''Pulled'' or ''Jerked''?
Question Author
Trt, it is a style of cooking. Jerked is all about the favouring, peppery and pulled is cooked slowly using joint rubbed in special favouring and shredded.
Its the way its cooked and served TRT
Pulled pork is cooked long and slow then pulled apart
Jerk is a style of cooking native to Jamaica in which meat is dry-rubbed or wet marinated with a very hot spice mixture called Jamaican jerk spice
I don't actually like burgers or hotdogs. Not in buns anyway. I like sausages as in with mash n veg, and I guess I'd eat a burger on its own with salad and coleslaw, ( can't remember the last time I had a burger) . Think it's the bun etc that makes it too stodgy for me.
On our visit last year with all our grandchildren grandson chose " Mac and cheese" in a restaurant and our lovely server said And that comes with fries, as though that was a good thing. We asked for some vegetables instead and he got broccoli over which they all argued because they love it. We wound up with the manager and two other servers coming over because they'd never seen children argue over broccoli, a huge bowl of extra was brought over and extra desserts for them.
Used to love those pancakes and maple syrup for breakfast !
Mmmm...pancakes,maple syrup,sausages, and bacon!
There is a pub on Islay that serves the most amazing macaroni cheese and chips mmmmm
