So what's on your menu for the big day, and what refreshments to accompany?

We have a small haunch of venison and a free-range corn-fed chicken with sausage meat, apricot and almond stuffing, roasties, parsnips, pigs in blankets, carrots, peas, sprouts & chestnuts, creamed spinach, kalettes, broccoli & PSB, cavalo nero, blueberry chutney and gravy. This will be served with either Veuve or Bolly and some rather nice Argentine Malbec.

Buen provecho!

Lovely! Enjoy.

I'm out and will eat whatever there is.

Have a great time.x
Really, NoM? Too much stuff to worry about.
We're having a lovely joint of beef, my excellent (although I say it myself :)) roast potatoes, sprouts and red cabbage. A few supermarket puddings.
garlic infused boned leg of lamb
roas pots cauli carrots and sprouts
christmas pudd with lashings of brandy on top and fresh cream

Thank you, Mamya. You too x
How do you fit all that on your plate?

I'm at the in laws so will probably be turkey, mash, roast, broccoli, carrots, sprouts, pigs in blankets (everything bar the spuds over cooked) gravy and whatever booze we bring.

All prepped the day before, Clover. Nothing to worry about. We won't do starters or puddings so I go all out on the main course. I did forget to mention Bread Sauce.

Sounds lovely, Bernie. I know very few people who are having Turkey this year.
I'm across visiting Mum for a couple of days where Food and drink will be a plenty, guaranteed to double my BMI :-)

I have a little of everything, Ummmm. The rest goes into Sandwiches or Bubble and Squeak :-)
Question Author
I'm sure you'll be thoroughly spoiled, Arky.
I still don't think I'd be able to eat that much food. And I can be quite fussy with foods touching each other :-)

Actually , Bernie, we toyed with the idea of having LOL ourselves. OH was pressing for goose and I finally agreed to cook the Venison if he let me have the chicken too.
Question Author
I like variety when it comes to veggies though :)
I am having either Bangers & Mash (ready meal) or Pizza (frozen). I'm off out in a minute so I might have a wander around Tesco to look for anything else that I may fancy
I do too. I just get full up quite quickly, then I'm hungry an hour later.

I don't really like turkey and MIL doesn't put butter or pepper in the mash.
I'm going to a friend's and she's doing a three bird roast (I'd rather just have turkey, but hey ho) and she's doing all the usual stuff with it, roast parsnips included (yum)! I believe she has Christmas pud too, but not sure I'll have room for that.
OP: kalettes, sprouts, broccoli and cavalo nero? You WILL be having a windy Xmas :-)
We are having canapes, then Borscht soup to start, Turkey and rib of beef, shredded sprouts with pancetta & Chestnuts, roasties & dauphinoise and buttered carrots. A rest, then port and cheeseboard, xmas pud and black forest gateaux for those who don't like pud. I do homemade stuffing, bread sauce and cranberry sauce. I'm cooking the turkey then taking it up to my daughters house and she is doing the rest.
No traditional Christmas food will pass over my threshold. I've seen so much in the form of donations over the past few weeks, I'm thoroughly fed up now. And don't mention mince pies. If we didn't give most away,we'd be dragging them out until June. ;-0
So for lil pasta and myself,it's a groaning board of salamis, ham, and other cold meats, pate, various cheeses, breads, several varieties of olives and pickles, prawns,salmon...smoked and seafood parcels, hummus, and Baba ganoush on offer. There will be prosecco,an Italian red that daughters Italian BF gave me a few months ago, plus rose and whites if wanted. A bit of cheese cake if there's room.
I should have said...donations *at work*. Not to me...;-0
Just out of interest, what are kalettes, PSB and cavalo nero?
