I am making this nut roast for xmas day
http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/nut-loaf

I’m wondering how far in advance can I make it?
Or if I freeze it do I freeze it cooked or uncooked. If I cook it and then freeze it, how best do I reheat it?
Thanks

I'd freeze it uncooked and cook from thawed on the day.
I'd prob do same as Mamya though I think it would be ok in fridge for several days beforehand too.

I was going to make it on Thursday. Is that just slightly too far away from Sunday to keep it in the fridge?
I don't think so. Shud be fine.
I don't agree. Mushrooms go bad pretty quickly. If you make it on Thursday freeze it until Saturday

Change of plan! I am going to make the nut roast this evening.

Should I make it, leave it uncooked and then cook on the day?
Or cook it today and then reheat on Sunday?

Thoughts please :o)
Cook, keep in fridge and reheat - the mushrooms won't like being in an uncooked mixture for two days.

Thanks Dave. Yes, Quizproquo said that about the mushrooms too.

How would you suggest I reheat it? I don't want to overcook it or dry it out.
Microwave would be my plan - best for keeping things moist I think.
o god this is a recipe !

I thought you were saying that a busload of lawyers had caught fire !

Do I need to slice it and reheat individual slices if i use the microwave?
Because I would prefer to keep it as a full roast and slice it once it has been reheated.
it is a veg
it will keep in a fridge over the week end

in a teenage household
everyone knows that a left over sunday pizza is eaten throu out the week
As long as it's in a non-metallic baking tin, I see no reason not to microwave it whole.

Hard to say how long (depends on the weight and fat content), but I'd give it (perhaps) 3 minutes and then check that it's heated through - then if necessary keep zapping it for an extra minute at a time until you're happy.

Think that's what I'll do Dave - thanks.
Just need to find a non-metallic baking tin now!

Thanks for all your answers.
