I want to try the low carb thing as my sisters and parents have had a lot of success with it but I need some help with what to cook! I am not good at cooking. I can do the protein bit okay but I am seeking 'carb replacements', such as cauliflower rice, or vegetable recipes which won't leave me feeling hungry. I've been so used to having some sort of carb with a meal, it will feel very odd not having one, and I'd like to make the transition as easy as possible. Thanks!

How strict do you want to be? Is it more a case of cutting out spuds/rice/pasta?

Yes pretty much!
Have you thought about a spiralizer? You can get them quite cheap on amazon. You can make veggie spaghetti.

Rosti's might be an idea as well.

How much sugar is in your diet when you think about drinks etc?

My friend lost loads of weight by just cutting out added sugar (in tea/coffee) and not drinking any pop/fruit juice.
cauliflower rice is a good alternative and you can buy prepepped or do your own.
Which carb do you eat the most?
Question Author
Probably rice; I do buy the microwaveable cauliflower rice but could do with something else really, else i go mad with repetition!
Waitrose do a selection of pouches based on things like red rice, couscous, wheatberries etc...two good servings per pouch.
This is one of my favourites....

You'll find similar microwavable pouches in most supermarkets. But...they are not low carb. Grains and pulses are all,for the most part, high in carbs. Make your own cauli rice or imitate some of the stores offerings. M&S do a veg "couscous" made with broccoli+ other green veg. Green, above ground veggies are the lowest carb. As for fruit...limit yourself to berries. All others are high in sugar.
Use Myfitnesspal or nutrition data to log in your food and monitor how many grams of carbs you are eating. Everyone is different...some can only eat very few ( like myself) to lose weight.
I agree with ummmm about a spiralizer, I have one and use it several times a week.Apart from noodles you can make other types of veg including vegetable rice.
I should have added...make cauli mash...mix some cheese in. Yum! There are loads of low carb sites with plenty of food ideas. Also...avoid artificial sweeteners if you want to really kill the desire for sugar.
