i have 1 years travel insurance through ( coverforyou ) they are cheap ! no customer service just a voice mail and instruction on how to claim.

ok. last month i booked hols for me and gf to go from uk to thailand then onto vietnam , booked cruise etc in vietnam and have all reciepts etc.

today was meant to travel ( booked 3 weeks off work ) coach from belfast to dublin broke down , could not have made it to checkin , would have been impossible !!

what will happen now, i have a good idea, the insurance company will try wiggle their way out of things per usual. im down about £1500 out of pocket, plus ive no work for next 3 weeks as i booked it off, so im down 3 week wages.

discusted, so what now what would you do, etihad airlines say i can fly tomorrow but need pay 700 euro ( even though im a guest member 10 years )
i booked ticked through www.skyscanner.com

any advice appreciated , thankyou

what have the coach company said?
As you've paid for the holiday and cruises etc and won't get that money back from those providers i would pay the other £700 and then try to claim that back rather than not going and gambling on getting the whole £1500.
I'm assuming the coach from Belfast to Dublin was not part of the package
According to https://www.coverforyou.com/claims you can ...

Telephone CoverForYou on 0203 137 8981 (Monday - Friday, 9am - 5:00pm)
E-Mail: [email protected]

I would call them and get them to confirm the £700 (less excess) for tomorrow's flight ...
Why on earth didn't you call a taxi as soon as the coach broke down? Missing a flight because you break down on the way to airport should be covered by your travel insurance company but they won't pay out quickly - they never do.

coach op was not involved in a package. the question is this, i cannot book another flight now as my onward trip to vietnam cruises and hotels should have taken place today.

will insurance company only pay for a flight ? or will they have to pay for my hotel bookings, cruise in halong bay and flights to vietnam ? thats the question.

requested claim form allready , hopefully it will be out soon.

HC4

because the idiot coach driver stopped and it took 15 minutes for me to go to him and ask what the hell is going on, only then did he tell me engine is overheating, he should have made an announcement to all on board of what was happening , he said there would be emergency replacemnet coach within 20 mins, an hour later still no emergency couch. nearly 50% of passengers on coach were going to catch international flights.
If you had phoned a cab when the coach broke down - you would have made your checkin.

I suspect the insurance company will say you did not try everything within your power to get to the airport.

islay, nonsense ! did you read the last reply, driver waited to tell us then he told us to wait.

also he locked doors to stop anyone getting off as was on motorway hard shoulder.
You will note that your response was not there when I gave mine!!

You did not provide that information in your initial OP, perhaps if you are spending so much on a holiday its best not to buy the cheapest insurance unless of course you have money to burn!!
I would have travelled the day before and spent the night in Dublin.
HC is right, I would have booked paid the taxi for should an important Journey, got a repceipt from the taxi Company then put a claim in against the coach company, the fault it theirs.
At the very least I would have got a much earlier coach.

Really?
Why not the train?
im not sure you'll get paid at all. As the loss of your trip is owing to your failure to get to the airport on time, i can't see how they be obliged to pay out anything.

so leaving belfast at 5.30 am in morning to catch a 9.30 flight is not early enough, off course it is. travel time via coach is 1hr 45 min.

well clearly it wasn't otherwise you'd be on a cruise in vietnam right now.

but it really doesn't matter what i think - what matters is the terms and conditions of your insurance. Hve you read them?
"so leaving belfast at 5.30 am in morning to catch a 9.30 flight is not early enough, off course it is. travel time via coach is 1hr 45 min."
You'll get all fiery about this but no of course it's not early enough. Even if it went smoothly that gave you no more than 45 mins leeway to get your stuff off the coach and walk to the right check-in desk. You've lost a presumably long planned 3 week holiday - I'd cough up the extra and get a direct flight to Vietnam to pick up the cruise.
Are you not supposed to be at the airport 3 hours before for an international flight?

We are flying out on Monday - our flight is 1300 and we will be at the airport by 11am to allow for any mishaps on the way.

Sorry but I don't think you will get any monies back.
That still sounds a bit tight Islay- aiming to arrive 2 hours before.
