Is it safe to eat raw beansprouts? I seem to remember there being a scare about them some time ago.

I have half a bag of stir fry vegetables left over and thought about incorporating some of it into tonight's salad.

Will it be ok?

Yep, I regularly use them raw in a salad and I'm still here.
I too in the past have eaten raw beansprouts in a salad. I am still here too.
I'd give them a wash before eating. You don't want a dose of salmonella!
I've never washed them, I rarely wash any fruit or veg unless it's got obvious bits of grime on it.
I'm one of those who believe a bit of muck is good, helps you build up immunity to germs and nasty stuff.

It says on the package that they must be cooked. I'll save them for tomorrow and use them under my roast.

Thank you all.
You could zap them and leave them to go cold for the salad.
dunk them in boiling water and refresh under cold water pat dry and you should be ok for eating in salad.
I always eat them raw, I never knew there was a risk associated with raw beansprouts. Might think twice before nibbling through them in future!
I eat them with no problems - give them a good wash first, of course.
Hello and welcome retroactive :)
