So my mums birthday a few days ago and my sister took her out for a steak at lunch, nothing wrong with that at all... I took her for afternoon tea (both meals cost about the same). I went round to my sister's today and saw a Thankyou card from mum to her saying "Thankyou for the best birthday ever, love you" I said to my mum " this is nice, thanks for my card" (being sarcastic) Mum said, oh I forgot to get two cards.....

Am I right to feel offended by this?

I think I'd feel a bit miffed but, it's no biggy.
I wouldn't like to comment whether you are right or not but although it may have flitted into my mind, I doubt I'd have said anything.
I think I would feel quite hurt about that... Doesnt seem fair.
I see you have a problem with your sister so this must have rubbed but I'm sure your mother didn't do it on purpose. Does she tend to be forgetful?
I would also be very hurt. Have you noticed any favouritism prior to this?
Yes you are.

Yes I am miffed, feel a bit let down seen as though mum does nothing but moan about my sister, maybe I am just being a spoilt brat
Well there you go then, boona. If she never moans about you, and your sister has actually done something that your mum wasn't expecting then, maybe, that's why she sent her a card.

Chrissa1 you are probably spot on there, maybe I should start being more like my sister..... I have never had a nice card from my mum
Err. I didn't mean that. Lol. You just carry on being nice.

I'm sure there's a proverb that fits your situation but, I can't think of it. :)

Haha I know you didn't ☺
That blank answer was meant to be a smiley emoji. How did you do yours? I'm on an iPad.

Noah!!!! I want a proper one. (Stamps feet.)
I have two daughters, the eldest by 18 months is 50 today and they have, to my dismay, been jealous and quarreling since they were in nappies.

☺☺☺... this is on android
Oh I know how you feel, Boona.....but honestly....laugh it off or you'll be the one who's grumpy and get wrinkles from frowning.....
I took a day off to collect my mum and drive her to her solicitors to make her will.....she asked me to go in with her....I did and she promptly made the will leaving everything to my brother and sister.
When asked about me she told the solicitor.....That one! She can look after herself......
Since then I've called my brother golden balls........

Just don't dwell on it.....it won't bother them....it will you if you let it.....Gx

Wow!! Well done you for being so grown up, I would spit my dummy out like no tomorrow if that happened!
You are spot on Gness, I always treated it with humour.

I have a brother and my late Mother thought him the brightest in the firmament, I got flip remarks and put downs, easier to laugh them off.
