M6 Manchester and M5 Worcester 50mph average speed areas. Why do some people continue to drive at below the 50mph in the middle lanes blocking the outside lane. keeping pace with the trucks in the slow " granny lane" holding people up who don't mind going a bit faster YOU CAN GO 54 YOU CRETTINS without getting a ticket. love this...Bob you are so right. Because it is an average speed check people do the silliest things and foolish people believe that speeding is in fact a crime....Trust me just ask New Judge hes one of them!!
Many will have been caught once and most unkeen to get a second ticket whilst the first offence is still active. And of course it is a maximum arbitrary speed not an obligatory arbitrary speed. I reckon human nature means you'll be obliged to be 'better safe than sorry' with regards to getting tickets.
Anybody who feels they have to live in fear of a fine without trial is stupid. Fines are unlawful speeding is NOT a crime. This country is based on what if's hence when you get a grilling down by a copper it's always, "what if a child stepped out" it's rubbish, if my mum had nads, she would be my dad but it doesn't change the fact that she is and always will be my mum!
Who's the cretin?

A 50 mph speed limit means you shouldn't be going over 50.
Ohhhhh hopkirk, scary, do as you are told, respect authority, live in fear of another human being...saaaad
Because speedos must not under read to be lawful they almost invariably show a higher speed than that being travelled. Checking against your sat nav on a level road will tell you your true speed. In a 50mph zone you should really be going at an indicated 50/52 to be safe from prosecution.
having driven both sets of M5 roadworks several times over the past few months (one of which is over 10 miles long), i've yet to find the trucks moving as sedately as traffic in the "granny lane"; so that anyone travelling at 48mph in the centre lane is likely to be able to see nothing but truck radiator in their mirror.......
megagob...does it upset you that much?
I won't engage, with PeelerPal about the ins and outs of whether speeding is a crime or an offence or whatever. Been there, done that, bit like arguing with someone that suggests an elephant is a feather matress.

Actually it is 57mph before enforcement normally begins (Limit +10% +2mph). This level is set by the Association of Chief Police Officers and is designed to avoid frivolous challenges to charges on the basis of equipment inaccuracies. However, a driver can be prosecuted for any speed in excess of the prevailing limit. But you are right, they should not be in the middle lane unless overtaking slower vehicles.
I just do not trust the the 10% + 2 rule without a guarantee that enforcement cameras have been set at this level: fat chance!
I just don't trust the police or the so-called judges, they are all corrupt
It's not worth losing your licence to save 30 seconds on an hour journey.
The speed limit is there to protect road workers and reduce the risk of accidents, not to act as a target.
common sense is there to protect your own natural senses of being irresponsible. Regardless of how many fines or penalties, only the stupid will cause accidents or death, FACT!!! Unless of course you are telling me that you need to be told what speed to drive for yours and everyone else's safety? If that is the case then please stop driving.
"I just do not trust the the 10% + 2 rule..."

And nor you should, chiaro. That's the level under which enforcement is not normally undertaken. But it is not a "rule". It is merely guidance isssued by police chiefs to their officers to assit them in deciding whether or not to prosecute. The limit is the limit, not plus 10%+2 or anything else.

"I just don't trust the police or the so-called judges, they are all corrupt"

Apart from the fact that so-called judges do not usually get involved in speeding matters , what evidence do you have that all police and so-called judges are corrupt? Bit of a sweeping statement if you don't mind me saying so.

I see that PP has been suspended.
