Boiled bacon and cabbage....

I did make a lasagna but woke up this morning and my son had eaten it!

Mamya, I impulse bought a ham hock on Monday,...reminded me how Mum used to slice one into her home-made pea soup. She was a lousy cook apart from that + tater hash ;)
Hock's still here, too salty + greasy for us :(

My OH likes it over cooked, just like his mother used to do :-)

I don't actually eat the bacon unless it's chopped up finely and used in bubble and squeak the next day.

A Bacon and egg butty, with a generous helping of healthy unsalted butter, with crusty warm bread. I may even have two and scare it with ketchup.

to be served on a veg fricassée of mangetout, french beans, baby leeks, baby turnips and samphire - and a mashed potato.

Dessert, the mater can choose but not for me.

I love a good colcannon, as long as the cabbage is not overcooked.....

I butter the spuds but not the bacon and cabbage. Black pepper goes on everything in this house :)

I mix it on the plate. I big knob of butter on the spuds and then mix the cabbage in. I don't do anything to the bacon bar boil it as I don't really eat it (that doesn't at all sound selfish)

I don't do anything to the bacon as it should speak for itself. I really fancy it now and I'm sure I'm gonna end up with something from a tin.
