Thought I'd get organised so i made a batch of spag sauce from a new recipe which sounded pretty good, but when we tried it we were very disappointed ....very bland ...and now there's two more meals in the freezer ....any ideas what I could add to put some 'interest' into it ? Thanks for any suggestions.

splash of worcester sauce ??
freshly ground pepper and stir in some basil. what sort of taste do you want? Mexican seasoning? a small amount might help. always taste cooking as you go.
How long have you cooked it for? I have mine on the hob for at least 2 and a half hours. This reduces it down and concentrates the flavours.
Chilli.

About three hours, rocky .....I was really disappointed cos usually that does the trick and really concentrates the flavour ....I'll go back to my tried and true old recipe next time.

Thanks ladies for your suggestions, perhaps the Worcester sauce for the first batch, then who knows with the second .......!!!

Now that's one I've got to be careful with, ummmm, but thanks :))
Finely chop a Chorizo, fry it off, add it to the ragu (oil as well) and throw in some smoked paprika.
I was going to say chilli and Worcester sauce but they've already been suggested. How about a bit of Marmite? I always put that in my sauces.
Chilli flakes to taste.
Or chopped fresh basil
Lazy Garlic if you're like me,..it's only food, not love......(chubsters hate hearing that, but nobody force feeds 'em, eh?) ;)

Is there oregano as with all italian dishes? Simmer the sauce in oven for 30mins to let it blend.
