Frequently there are posts whinging and bleating about how posts get derailed and misinterpreted.

I have little time for the personal, private expressions of emotion.

Having said that they are easily avoided and that is what I do.

As AB is an open site for all and sundry to visit at will I just accept that there will be posters who's offerings I enjoy and others that make my skin crawl much like everyday life.

So what changes, if any, would you like made to how AB functions?

I have been here since the start, and seen all the evolution and changes that have gone on.

But I appreciate the constants - the ability of people to advise, inform and discuss which they do on a daily basis. I like the fact that my opinion can be changed by someone else's point of view, which I had not considered, and that maybe I have changed other opinions in a similar style.

The only thing I would like to change, is the need for some AB'ers to make an issue out of perceived personality clashes, which involve misjudgements which are unfair, and criticisms which are invalid.

I am aware that it is impossible to change that - because it is built into the DNA of the site - exchanges of views and freedom to express thoughts make issues like that an occupational hazard, and by and large, I manage to work round them - not always, but more often than not.

So here I am, year sixteen, and I am happy here now I was one Day One, and fully intend to be the one who is last to leave and puts the light out.

Aaarghh a typo, spell-checker-tripper-upper.......

Those posts are tedious too, and I'm as guilty as the next poster.

Pied Piper.
beat me to that.I reckon no more than 3 C&Ps per ABer per OP.
Won't get far on 30 words though. :-)
Links are often required and are C&P.!
Make it 16 or over.
retrocop - //beat me to that.I reckon no more than 3 C&Ps per ABer per OP. //

I think you'll find that people with an issue with C & P are in the minority - if it had been flagged up to AB Towers in sufficient numbers, an edict would have come down from Lord Gnome on the subject.

C & P saves confusion about what a responder is referring to, because responses are not always consecutive.
16 c and ps on one post, I have never seen that! Amazing.....

The endless C&P makes my head hurt in the News section. The claim that it clarifies posts is false to my mind, it just elongates posts and adds little.
I'm with you on that one EcclesCake, drives me, and I suspect a lot of other people, to distraction! Just my opinion of course.
\\C & P saves confusion about what a responder is referring to, because responses are not always consecutive.\\

In your opinion. Not mine.It makes an interesting thread very tedious.I imagine it puts a lot of posters off if the truth was sought.
C&P does clarify posts as it makes it clear which point the poster is addressing.

Fair enough, we can agree to differ, but I reiterate my point that if enough AB'ers had an issue with C & P, the Ed would make it known that it is to be discontinued.

Thus far, no such request has been forthcoming, leading me to believe that most people are either happy with C & P, or indifferent, and you and a couple of other protestors represent a tiny, but vocal minority.
Lol Andy Hughes only allowed one sentence per answer ( just teasing andy)
this is a question of c and ps or not can be summarised as 'Buqger you if you do and Bugqer if you don't,' given previous threads on either side.
A-H re posts at 17.05 and 17.15, not something I would consider bothering Ed with, just find it irksome.
Eccles ....I agree. I am not keen on stifling debate. All views should be allowed, as long as they don't transgress the AB rules, which some of them alas.
No matter what anybody suggest about what they would change on here, will be a waste of time.

Over the 10 years I have been on A/B, many people have have suggested changing certain features to improve the daily running of the site, including myself.

The Editor has also asked what improvements could be made, and many gave their contributions, some good, some not so, but I don't recall any being used.

I personally think it could do with a makeover, to keep up with the latest technology, and a good start would be with a colour change.

I agree a waste of time. That is why I didn't bother acknowledging the first posters suggestion.
andy-hughes,....how many years have you been here? Don't think you've mentioned it for 5 minutes....
