I`ve just aquired 3 place from a fishmonger. I forgot to ask him to fillet it. I`m not a big plaice eater. I`ve looked at youtube videos showing how to fillet them and it`s looks tricky and anyway, I don`t have a filleting knife. Can I just cook them whole? I would pan sear them. I`m not sure how tough the grey skin is though.

Just lift the skin off once it's cooked, it will peel off quite easily.
Mrs sqad says......yes pan fry......very hot and the skin will just peel away.

Thank you Eccles. I`ve just trimmed the fins, head and tail and got that blood sack out. It doesn`t look too bad. My Mum was a big fan of plaice and I couldn`t remember if I had seen the fish on her plate with the skin on or not. I`m going to freeze them. Thanks again.

Thanks Sqad. You weren`t there when I started typing.

You're welcome 237.
I hope you haven't fried them before freezing them! The skin on plaice is not at all tough and is perfectly edible.
Id eat the skin as well, far too nice to take off.
