Good news, although why we have to wait another 2 years is a mystery to me. Add the info that 0800 calls will be free as from tomorrow, 1st July, its been a good week for consumers so far !

The money grabbing bar stewards that own the phone companies appear to be on the run at last, and not before time. They have had enough of my money over the last 20 years !

Only in Europe though (no good to me). It`s better than nothing I suppose.
I bet they will just put standard call charges up to cover the loss. My O2 ipad contract has just stopped the saving of data from month to month. Be assured that the customer won't profit.

By the way, what do our anti EU ABers think about this, as its the EU that is responsible for this change !
2 years is too long. Last year my phone bill on holiday was up by £70 and that was just for texts and a few phone calls.
ll that will happen is that those who don't use roaming will pay for those who do.

Woofy...I may be wrong here but I'm not sure that the EU will allow companies to do what you suggest they might...they seem to be getting very tough all of a sudden !
With any luck it will coincide with the EU referendum
If you travel to certain countries and use your phone, it`s worth going with 3 because you get the same allowance that you do at home http://www.three.co.uk/Discover/Phones/Feel_At_Home#dest

Prudie...If you read my link, you will see that there are interim changes that will happen before the 2 years is....the BBC are saying that prices will drop as from 2016 ::

From April 2016, telecoms operators will be able to add a surcharge of no more than:

€0.05 (3.5p) extra per minute for calls
€0.02 extra per SMS sent
€0.05 extra per megabyte of data used

The cap would make roaming within the EU 75% cheaper during the interim period, the European Commission said.

ichkeria...I never thought of that ! Spooky, isn't it !
Unless they use the established Internet rather than the teletphone networks I'm unsure governments should be able to demand this. Anything passed on the phone network from a different country involves two national networks and the international one to connect between them. Why wouldn't that cost ?

I am still betting that phone companies will find a way to recoup any loss.
