I know you can use 1/4 cup of mashed banana (I do have a banana but don't want the banana flavour in my brownies). I was going to add some Nutella anyway, do you think if I just add 1/4 cup of Nutella to the box mix-along with the water and oil- the brownies will still come out okay? There is already raising agent in the mix, so I just need a binder, really.

You could use a little apple sauce or corn starch; however, I think that the Nutella should do it...You'll be able to tell by the "feel" of the mixture. And remember, don't over beat it; just enough to thoroughly mix things.
Banana is a carbohydrate, so it is not an effective binder as an egg.

Sorry it took so long to update, but I did make those brownies. The Nutella worked fine, came out very gooey in the middle, though. But we like that.
