A while ago, I was berating Heinz for stopping making those little cans of Curried Beans. The new recipe is nothing like as good.

But in the back of one of the cupboards, here in my caravan, I found the last tin ! Its sell-by date is 01-03-2013. I am overjoyed !

But do you think I ought to eat them ? I always view these "sell-by" dates with complete disdain, unless something is actually green and furry !

I'd eat them, but I wouldn't then stay in the caravan for long. ;-)
The new recipe is nothing like as good.

That is true of a lot of things, HP sauce springs to mind. A few years ago Bovril decided to stop using beef extract. Sales plummeted so they had to reinstate it.
mikey are you sure they are the "curried" beans and not the chilli ones? I am addicted to the chilli and meatball ones.
Just use your nose Mikey. They are probably fine but don't look for any indemnity from me. ;-)
I'm happy to add a tad of curry powder to baked beans myself Mikey. Out here we call it "cowboy caviar".
Save them till 8th May. Labour needs all the votes it can muster.
Why am I now remembering that old movie,,"Blazing Saddles" ;-)
Jackdaw................The baked beans won't really go with the champagne on the 8th.
Are you implying that Mikey is a champagne socialist?
LOL...........Not at all,but what better to drink on a special occasion. Perhaps some whisky as well,to assist the economies of us poor Scots and our EEC friends over the Channel.
Well, we'll just have to wait and see who will be popping the cork. I, for one, don't have a clue. By the way, you are 30 years out of date. The EEC no longer exists; it has been replaced by the Fourth Reich.
I draw the line at schnapps.

The smart money is on a dead heat ....and then the real fun begins.
I love Heinz beans, but I always think of THAT scene in Blazing Saddles. If I had the curried ones, well... it would be twice as explosive !

Eat and enjoy Mikey . Ignore most sell by dates.
I don't think I've ever looked at a date on a tin.

I remember a story years back. An elderly couple had a tin of something donkeys years old and it was still perfect when they opened it.
I think that might have been the case of a couple who were given a canned whole chicken as a wedding present. They opened it on the occasion of their golden wedding, it was fine.
That's the one, Jack. I was thinking it was a whole chicken but wasn't sure.
yeuch !

I intend to open the can for my breakfast this morning, so if I survive, I will report back !
After a can of curried beans I'm sure you will "report back" Mikey ;-)

Well, its Curried Beans for Breakfast, plus 6 hours and apart from the normal side effects, I appear to be still alive and kicking.

And they were delicious !
