As mentioned in another post I was at my son's home for Christmas. His MIL is a great soap fan so Emmerdale, Corrie and Eastenders were a must on Christmas night. Don't want to sound bah humbug but how anyone can watch these soaps beats me.Thank goodness for iplayer so I can watch Call the Midwife today! Still, I did get the chance to read The Simpsons and Skylander Annuals lol.

Maggie, I agree with you re the soaps. At the best off times, they are naff, but at Christmas , they're, well, even more so. At least you'll get to see your faves with iplayer.

You've got to be dead from the neck up to watch such drivel ......... We never have the TV on in our house on Christmas day, its actually nice to talk ....... all the young members of the family know the rules, no TV, its family time. :)

...there again, I don't like Call the Midwife (or, indeed, anything with Miranda Hart in it)...but I'm mature enough not to call it "rubbish" or "drivel", just because it's not to my taste.

Why?
It's a good opportunity for those who have been flogging their guts out making Christmas special for everyone else, to fall asleep in front of.
No one has to watch it if they don't want to, doesn't mean to say everyone feels the same.
