Since your advice a few weeks ago, I have been keeping bags of flour in the freezer and it has been absolutely fine. I still look (out of habit) for the little mites/weevils but they are not a problem now. It's such a pleasure to know I always have flour in the house and don't have to worry about any infestations so many, many thanks for your good advice.

Just read this - what a good idea!

I take it you've also been bothered with these little pests in the flour. I've thrown away so much in the past and would just buy a small bag as and when needed and throw the rest away.
Yes, indeed. Not only thrown stuff away and bought small bags, but scrubbed out and disinfected cupboards and given myself a lot of (apparently unnecessary)
work! One more life problem gone - great!

Delighted to share atalanta's tip.
When I lived in Zambia we always put flour in the deep freeze for a day and then sieved the frozen weevils out, standard procedure.
I've only once had weevils in flour in about 45 years.
Great to know you have benefitted from my idea. Well, it wasn't my own idea - I have lived in hot countries and have had to fight all sorts of bugs. I even had to keep fudge and sugar in the fridge - the only place the ants couldn't get at them.
By the way, you might even find that freezing the flour actually kills any lurking weevil eggs. Or whatever pre-weevils are called. Freezing certainly kills moths' eggs - I keep all my winter cashmeres in the freezer all summer. No mothholes, but not much room for ice-creams.
