ducksie I got quite a lot from a punnet of cranberries,it would make a lovely gift,i got a large jar full from 1 punnet,i didn't taste it but son says its lovely,i just cant eat chillies.
I was wondering as I know a lot of my friends are giving home made food gifts and that sounds lovely - I don't care for chillies myself tbh but your churney sounds lovely - enjoy
chutney ^^ that's what happens when the r is so close to the t lol bound to get typos ...
Hi everyone :) I've been making chutney for a month or so now for little Christmas gifts...bought lovely little kilner type jars on line. So far i've made Tangy pineapple chutney (definitely the best by a country mile). Caramelised red onion (don't know yet, it needs another month) Spicy green tomato (not 100% sure but I daresay it will do a turn) and tomorrow i'm off to make Tomato and chilli jam just to finish this current lot off. I've also made Strawberry Jam.

It's been a lot of fun ! Good on you Kate, I swithered about making a Christmas one, I might still if I have ingredients left.

I'll post the Tangy pineapple one if anyone wants to try it...I used tins instead of fresh pineapple and very very reasonable to make ...it's lush.

Hope you don't mind Kate me adding to your thread x
I also fermented plum liqueur from neighbours plums back in August. It has been duly processed and it looks good, i'm just scared to try it now ;)
ducksie...sorry didn't see you there. It's not too late. I think you'll enjoy making chutney and jams for gifts.Only a couple need to sit for a few months, The rest will be well received well (I blooming well hope anyway)...i'd be delighted to receive a hand cooked gift.
I'd love to make them kylesmum, wouldn't have the confidence though, instead I'm doing mince pies and panecotte to pass around as gifts, have a friend that makes a lovely onion chutney during summer, I look forward to that , thanks for the thought though - fair play to you for making them - that's what I think
Good on you ducksie...I wouldn't have the confidence to try what you've made ! All the home made goodies should marry up somewhere some how :)

I have time on my hands so I like to try new things, sometimes it's an epic failure :)

kylesmum 'I am going to make the pineapple one tonight
Enjoy kate, sounds lovely x

Hi kylesmum. I'd love the recipe for the Tangy pineapple one please. I was busy about 6 weeks ago making Christmas chutney, it's made from figs, cranberries and lots of other good stuff. I make it every year, the kids and friends love it. I also did my pickled onions a couple of weeks ago, my little treat for the Christmas buffet
Question Author
mazie I just googled pineapple chutney, what is the recipe for your xmas one please.
That sounds rather nice, kate, I must give it a go! Mt green tomato chutney has been good again this year.
I'll write it up here either later on or tomorrow morning, is that OK?
