On R4 this lunch time, Sandi Toksvig was talking about a woman who was stolen from her husband, and forced to marry a king.
She asked her husband if she could be ruler for just a day. The King agreed. The lady gave orders for his execution.
I didn't catch her name, and I would like to read a little more about her.
Any help would be appreciated.

It sounds like it was a joke rather than a true story.
Which programme was it, Ferlew?

I cant recall the title, I was going into town in the car, and concentrating more on the traffic to be honest.
She was on about putting the alphabet into storage, some Belgium chap was on about tint wasps. I'll have to check Radio times.

The programme was... The Museum of Curiosity, Sandi's lady seemed worth investigating.
Blimey what a stupid king....I mean could you not see that one coming a mile off?
It's a panel show in which three distinguished guests donate fascinating exhibits to a vast imaginary museum!
Question Author
Yes, Sandi donated the Alphabet, not sure whether the other thing was real...shame if it wasn't LOL
It's repeated Tomorrow 07:30 BBC RADIO 4 EXTRA and of course on iPlayer...must give it a listen!

So must I now...if I remember.
The lady ordered her husband's execution???

Hmmmm...something you want to tell us, Ferlew......☺
Interesting - and logical. It's true about the female being more deadly than the male isn't it!
Queen for a day? The King is dead; long live the King:)
It's Sammuramat - 8th century queen of Assyria
Is it a factual true story or like King Alfred and the cakes?
I suspect the latter! http://www.ancient.eu/article/743/
Is any "known" history not like "King Alfred and the cakes" ?

Thank you :)
