Wondered why daughter phoned to tell me to look out of the window. There was the most beautiful rainbow I have ever seen (I'm in my eighties)-it was so big and bright you could make out all the colours. It made my day -was feeling a bit down.

Wonderful sight, I live high on a hill with a view that stretches for miles and frequently have the sight of a full rainbow across the valley.

NB Son's girlfriend who comes from London had never seen the full arc of a rainbow until she came here.
Glad the rainbow brightened your day hope there was a pot of gold at the end of it!
It's beautiful and poetic in a metaphoric kind of way quinie.

"Out of every storm comes a rainbow"
Lovely! We had enormous hailstones this morning!
Aww!! That's lovely to hear quinie.
We had a double rainbow here a couple of weeks ago.
Glad it cheered you up and lifted your spirits. Saw a double rainbow years ago on holiday in the Lake District. Never seen anything like it since...
I'd never seen one before either.
Rainbows always make you feel better.
Has anyone ever seen or heard of a "Moon bow"?
I have seen a coloured halo around the moon. Is that the same thing, Henrietta?
If you see a double rainbow there is always a darker bit of sky between the two arcs, this is Alexander's Dark Band, (not Alexander's Ragtime Band) I learnt this from a schools' programme many years ago. Watch out for it.

I've heard of a moonbow but never seen one. Wonder what colour it is.
I've no idea how to upload photes of Alexander's Dark Band, you'll have to look it up yourselves.
Hi quinie....Have a look at the link below for some Moonbow pictures. xx
