red velvet cake-what a load of old ****

spent a small fortune on one for a treat - absolutely tasteless sponge with cheesy topping - urgh!
These americans don't know the first thing about sponges if they think that's decent!
is that racist?
Give me a light victoria sponge any day :D

Lol it has to be made right crisgal! I love it, it's my fave and very light when I make it. Wrong shop choice rather than wrong cake choice! lol Don't give up on it, it's yummy!

it was morrisons extra special one, reduced to 4 squid. we could have one of their gateaux instead!
At least i didn't pay the original £6!
I wouldn't buy them from a supermarket....they will always be a disappointment. Sorry you didn't like it, but trust me if done properly they are delicious x
Make your own instead of criticising some British shop bought version.Would you expect to find an authentic version of a Treacle tart in an American supermarket?

If I remember when I get home tonight-I'll dig up the old authentic version I grew up with.....if that would help.
I've always fancied making one of these, so pretty please pasta, could you dig that receipe out. :)
