Those sweets contain bovine gelatine.
Holland and Barrett sell vegetarian jelly and Haribo make a range of sweets suitable for vegetarians such as Starfish Gummy Jellies, available from most supermarkets. Be careful to buy the vegetarian ones. |

I have just discovered that good old fashioned Hartleys jelly is in fact suitable for vegetarians. That'll be much cheaper than Holland and Barrett and you can buy that at every supermarket.

The co-op sell some sweets suitable for vegetarians as do Holland and Barratt - jellies, sweet strawberries and black currants

Thanks. the reason for my question is my daughter is having a birthday party and one of the wee girls in her nursery class cant have gelatin for religous reason so is the veggie versions of sweets and jelly ok?
|
|
Yes it would be - you just need to steer clear of beef and pork gelatin. Veggie stuff should be OK but it's always worth checking the ingredients.
