Turmeric stains

OK, love curry, have helped son cook one tonight.

BUT how do you clean saucepans, plates etc that have turmeric stains?

Any advice / hints / suggestions gratefully received.

Have you tried baking soda or vinegar or even maybe both? I'm sure i read that somewhere but don't quote me on it.
What exactly does turmeric do apart from make everything yellow? Is it really needed or could you leave it out?

Thanks for your very helpful suggestion(s) - most appreciated.
I'd try oxygen-based bleach - those powders (like Vanish) which have "oxi" or "oxy" on the pack. Dissolve in warm water and soak pans with solution in. DON'T be tempted to use chlorine-based bleach!

Thanks, gingejbee.
What sort of pans? Aluminium, steel, non-stick etc.
Regular bleach - as neat as is necessary then wash with soap and rinse well. You will smell it if there is any residue
Thanks for everyones advice.

Lol....I love it when that happens.
soak in a solution of soap pewder with vanish !!! I also do this with tea stained cups
I did suggest oxygen-based bleach eg Vanish or other much cheaper versions, twelve hours ago! BUT I advise against chlorine-based bleach, "regular bleach", because it shouldn't be used on enamelled surfaces, most metals and (I suggest) non-stick materials. (I have seen a set of Le Creuset saucepans ruined by the use of chlorine bleach).
sounds like you're also using too much tumeric
