Authentic Indian rice ?

Dear good AB'ers , Is there anything more you can add to white basmati rice,other than Turmeric spice, to make authentic Indian rice. Is there a better rice than Basmati Rice you can use also, thank you GL.

Basmati is a top quality rice that is authentically Indian on its own, without added flavours. Any additions would detract from the delicate fragrance for which Basmati is renowned. Go for a cheaper rice, such as Patna, (which is related to Basmati), for adding spices and herbs to.

I have a jar of paste (Pillao paste)- a small dollop of which spices the rice up nicely.
