My new Stoves mini range cooker is lovely, but as I have to lower the temp by 20 degrees [as per instructions] I find that cakes don't brown enough. I can't turn off the fan [I don't think], and cooking longer overcooks.
Help needed please. Thank you

Could you turn the heat up for the last 5-10 minutes to see if that helps with browning?
maybe have it really hot before you put in and then turn down...give it a kick start..only a suggestion though !
maybe better as Daffy says to give it a kick at the end !

I think I'll try turning it up at the end. Apparently it's best if you don't heat the oven first. Have got a coffee cake in at the moment and didn't heat it first, [trying everything].
with my fan oven we generally use the same heat, but cook it for less time

Thanks everyone. Coffee cakes put into cold oven looked fine, but then they are 'coffee coloured' anyway. Maybe I'll stick to chocolate coffee and fruit cakes! Thanks everyone again.
what temperature are you cooking at?
